The increasingly widespread use of battery-powered products in the garden has become a clear trend in the past few years. Gardening power tool manufacturer VIKING from Langkampfen has implemented battery technology in its most important product group – lawn mowers – for some years now.
The VIKING battery-powered lawn mowers recently received pleasing recognition from a number of sources. The battery-powered MA 443 C lawn mower model, which was introduced very successfully onto the market this spring, won the "Plus X Award" and was named "Product of the Year" by the same body. The Plus X Award is the world's major innovation prize for products from the fields of technology, sports and lifestyle and rewards manufacturers whose products provide award-worthy added value. In the case of the VIKING lawn mower, in addition to the innovative battery technology, this also included the mono comfort handlebar on the machine, which enables extremely simple and convenient attachment and detachment of the grass catcher box.
Further gratifying recognition of the VIKING battery-powered lawn mowers came from England, the ancestral home of the lawn mower. The independent product-testing and consumer campaigning charity "Which?" has been testing products of all kinds since 1957. Maximum priority is placed on the opinions of the testing consumers here when a so-called "Best Buy" purchase recommendation is awarded. This time it was the VIKING MA 339 model which received this coveted honour, becoming the first ever battery-powered lawn mower to do so.
VIKING GmbH, based in Langkampfen, produces and sells lawn mowers, robotic mowers, ride-on mowers, scarifiers, garden shredders and tillers. In 2012, VIKING, a member of the STIHL Group, achieved a turnover of €140 million with 317 employees. Sales partners for the VIKING gardening power tools are exclusively service-providing specialist dealers.
