New Managing Director at VIKING

As Nikolas Stihl will step down from his position as Managing Director of VIKING on 31 March 2011, his successor, Peter Pretzsch, has assumed management of the Langkampfen-based gardening power tool manufacturer since the beginning of 2011. Nikolas Stihl, grandson of the STIHL company's founder and Managing Director of VIKING since 1993, will move to the parent company STIHL in Waiblingen (Germany) as of April 2011 in preparation for assuming chairmanship of the STIHL Group Advisory Council.

Peter Pretzsch will assume sole management of VIKING in April 2011. Aged 50, he has worked for STIHL at the Waiblingen headquarters for more than 20 years, where he last held the position of Director, Group Technology and Buildings.

Under the leadership of Nikolas Stihl, VIKING has undergone extremely positive developments over the past 17 years. With 67 employees in 1993, the company today counts almost 300. Turnover has also virtually quintupled from 21 million euros (1993) to 106 million euros (2009). The member company of the STIHL Group has recently increased its equity ratio to 65 percent, further improving the solidity of its financial structure.

VIKING produces and sells lawn mowers, robotic mowers, lawn tractors, garden shredders, tillers and scarifiers, exclusively via specialist dealers. With an export share of around 98%, the gardening power tool specialist is represented in some 60 countries. Its core market is Europe. For some time now, STIHL products are also increasingly being produced in Langkampfen. STIHL battery-powered machines such as the battery-powered chain saws and hedge trimmers are prime examples.
